OMAG currently offers its members free access to police policies and training on these policies through Lexipol policies and Lexipol Daily Training Bulletins (DTBs). Lexipol policies meet current constitutional and state law requirements and are designed to reduce law enforcement liability. OMAG has identified certain Lexipol policies that OMAG expects its members to incorporate into their police manual. These policies are identified in the link below.

Due to the drastic increase over the last few years in both the cost and number of law enforcement claims, in the future, an OMAG member’s use or non-use of Lexipol policies and DTBs may impact that member’s premium, deductible, or participation in the OMAG General Liability Plan.

For more information regarding Lexipol policies and DTBs, contact OMAG’s Law Enforcement Specialist Kevin J. Katz at kkatz@omag.org or 405-657-1466.

Courses available for public safety, law enforcement (many offer continuing education CLEET hours), and local government

LELA

OMAG offers an intensive training series on law enforcement liability for select law enforcement personnel around the State: the OMAG LELA Training Series. The purpose of the OMAG LELA Training Series is to provide CLEET-accredited, in-depth training on common and emerging legal issues facing law enforcement in Oklahoma. The OMAG LELA Training Series is typically held twice a year and each series consists of three training sessions, each consisting of traditional classroom training and roundtable discussions, utilizing case law, body cam, and other materials from real-life incidents.  For more information, please contact Ambre Gooch at (405) 657-1447 or Kevin Katz at (405) 657-1466.

Background Documents

Thorough background investigations are essential for hiring qualified, competent, and trustworthy officers in any Police Department. A well-structured background check helps ensure that new hires meet the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and capability, ultimately strengthening public trust and department effectiveness.

To support our member agencies, OMAG has compiled a set of sample forms, letters, checklists, and questionnaires to streamline the background investigation process. These resources are designed to help departments conduct comprehensive and efficient screenings while adhering to best practices and legal requirements.

For more information or assistance with these forms, contact Kevin Katz at (405) 657-1400 or email him to learn more.
